First league win and a welcome boost.

Dundela 3-1 Banbridge Town 19/11/16 League @ Wilgar Park

Dundela grabbed a vital three points in this league encounter and a much needed boost going into Friday nights Steel & Sons semi Final against Glebe Rangers.

The Duns started brightly and were unfortunate not to take an early lead with both McClelland and Burrows failing to convert from Jacksons cross.
That missed chance was to prove costly as Banbridge started to gain control of the game and rattled Sergeants bar with a thunderous effort before taking the lead through Moffatt. Their hopes took a blow however when Downey had to be carried off after a challenge from Lewis Roy.
Despite trailing, the home side were doing their utmost to get back in the game but were getting little success against a well marshalled Banbridge defence.
HT 0-1
Dundela made a significant change at the break replacing Manley with Sofley and right from the off the young striker was causing panic in the visitors back line and it was he who got the men in green level with a neat finish.
Finally the Duns were producing the sort of football that everyone had been waiting for and took a deserved lead through young full back Brown following a rampaging run down the left wing.
Within five minutes Dundela got a decisive third goal when Town keeper Murphy conceded a penalty with a foul which was very close to the edge of the area. Town players were incensed claiming that indeed it was outside the box. However a penalty was given and after Murphy had saved Burrows spot kick the striker gleefully followed up and netted the rebound.
The home side were able to see out the remainder of the game without any danger for a welcome first league win of the season.
FT 3-1
