Crusaders 2-1 Dundela BetMcClean League Cup Rd 2 29/08/17 @Seaview
Dundela goal scorer Jordan Hughes.
Dundela suffered the first defeat of the season to Premier League side Crusaders but can hold their heads high after a superb performance which had the game in the balance right up to the final whistle.
Crusaders unsurprisingly made the brighter start although there were signs that The Duns were there not to just make up the numbers.
Ryan McBride in the Dundela goal made a fine save to keep the scores level on fifteen minutes and almost immediately saw his side take the lead when a quick interchange of passes saw Hughes in the clear and he easily beat Dougherty in the home goal.
Crusaders continued to attack and McBride produced another fine save before McAllister got The Crues level with a fine finish to send the teams in to the break level.
Within two minutes of the restart Crusaders took the lead when Nimmick finished from a tight angle.
Dundela attempted to hit back with Burns, McMaster and Hughes causing panic in the home defence at times but the best chance fell to Morrison who’s glancing header went narrowly wide.
At the other end McBride was in great form to deny the home side on numerous occasions while Dougherty in the home goal also had to be alert to thwart the Dundela strikers to help see his side through.
