Dundela 4-5 Ballyclare Comrades 03/12/2011 Championship2
For the second week running Dundela conceded 5 goals at home this time to Ballyclare in a thrilling encounter. The result of this game however was in the balance right to the end thanks to striker Dee Wright’s 4 goals for the home side.
Comrades took a two goal lead within the first half hour through a Wharry header and Irvine from a tight angle after Sergeant had raced from his goal.
The Duns were rattled as they had most of the early play and could have had a couple of goals themselves if not for Glendinning in the Comrades goal and some poor finishing. However things did turn around with Dee Wright firing in an unstoppable effort from the edge of the box and then stooping to head in at the back post from a Hunter corner.
HT 2-2
The second half started with Dundela’s tails up boosted by those two Wright goals and the striker then shot them in front on 50 minutes for his hat trick.
The game was now well and truly on and both sides had opportunities but it was the away side who got the next through a Wharry penalty given for pushing in the box and minutes later took the lead through McDowell who knock the ball over the line after a goalmouth scramble.
The Duns went all out for an equalizer as the game neared the end and seemed to have rescued a point when that man Wright bagged his fourth of the game.
However there was yet another twist when in stoppage time Gourley fouled Irvine in the box and referee McGrath pointed to the spot. The Dundela bench were adamant that Gourley got the ball but a penalty it was and up stepped Wharry for his third to seal victory for Comrades.
