A welcome three points

After successive cup defeats Dundela returned to winning ways with a hard fought 3-2 victory over PSNI in the league at Wilgar Park.
The Duns got of to a slow start and were shocked on 6 minutes when a Sergeant clearance fell straight to Ben Mulgrew and he fired home from long range. However the response was almost immediate as Gary Irwin was felled in the box and a penalty was awarded. Wilson in the away goal pulled of a great save from Gourley’s spot kick but Faulkner was on hand to net the rebound.
Dundela were now the more dangerous and just after the half hour mark Dee Wright struck with Dundela’s second.
The lead was not to last long however when the assistant referee saw some shirt pulling in the box and waved for a penalty which was duly converted to level matters at the break.

In difficult conditions the second half was a bit of a stop start affair with both teams struggling with the gusting wind.
The game however was settled on the hour mark when Ryan Cardwell headed home at the second attempt from an Irwin corner.
